Ballet

The Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre, under the direction of Molly Buchmann and Sharon Mathews, is a non-profit organization chartered in 1960 to promote and assist the advancement of classical and contemporary dance by maintaining a performing company, presenting a high quality season, providing dance education, and community outreach.

Dance Theatre of Harlem

Now celebrating its 45th year, this multi-cultural dance institution has achieved unprecedented success, bringing innovative and bold new forms of artistic expression to audiences around the world. Under the artistic direction of Virginia Johnson, the internationally acclaimed Dance Theatre of Harlem will inhabit our stage with an eclectic program comprised of DTH classics and cutting-edge new works that bring unprecedented relevance to classical ballet. The highly acclaimed group returns to Baton Rouge after a sold-out appearance in 2001.

The Nutcracker

Created by BRBT Artistic Directors Molly Buchmann and Sharon Mathews in 1992, The Nutcracker – A Tale from the Bayou has become one of the most highly anticipated events of the Baton Rouge holiday season. Incorporating local landmarks such as a bayou, the Old State Capitol, and Oak Alley, this lavish production continues to thrill adults and children alike.

Beyond Ballet

Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre will present its spring concert, Beyond Ballet, at the River Center Theatre for the Performing Arts on Friday, April 17 at 7:30p.m.

Featuring BRBT Company and Ensemble dancers with guest artist, Helen Daigle, this mixed bill concert of contemporary ballet and modern dance will include choreography by internationally acclaimed dancer-choreographers, Charlotte Boye-Christensen and Blakeley White McGuire, as well as the works of well-known local choreographers, Jonna Cox, Mina Estrada, and Susan Perlis.
